Greetings Shipmates: The Hazelwood reunion ended on Sunday
April 30, 2017 at the Guesthouse Inn, Nashville, TN. Bruce Shilling completed
his record third Chairman of the reunion. Bruce arranged for the group to have a
riverboat ride on the General Jackson and a trip to the Grand Ole Opry
performance. The river had high water so it had to go up-river rather than down
to downtown Nashville.

This was the lowest attendance we have had and we did not get
a volunteer to chair the next reunion. Those attending discussed this situation
during our business meeting as well as at other times during the reunion. The
best solution the group came up with was for the Hazelwood shipmates to attend
the TIN CAN SAILORS ANNUAL REUNION.
The TCS Reunion is normally held in August of each year. When
a number of shipmates from a ship attends they make note of the ship and also
arrange for seating at dinners together, They even try to get a separate
hospitality room for a larger group. If you are a member of TCS you can see the
announcement about the reunion this year being held in King of Prussia, PA
(Philadelphia area) in the most recent TIN CAN SAILOR Publication.
We want to encourage the Hazelwood shipmates to attend the
2018 TCS reunion which will be held in Buffalo, NY. We do not have the specific
dates yet or other specific information. In general, you pay a registration fee
(This year it is $159.00) and this includes Sunday Luncheon, General Session,
Welcome Aboard Dinner, Farewell Dinner, Hospitality room, & More. Optional
tours are selected when you arrive at the reunion and are not included in the
Registration Fee.
I hope we get a great turnout in 2018.
